Where Can I Download Free Movies? Find the Best Movie Download Site Online

March 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment

If you’ve been surfing the Internet in the last few years and you also happen to love movies, I’m sure this question has crossed your mind: Where can I download free movies? It’s true, if you’re wondering, that you can find legitimate sites to download movies from. Of course, I’m sure you’d like to know where and which movie download site is the best value.

As you know, it’s gotten easier and easier to download movies online. So many new services are available and want you to use your hard earned money on their particular service. They know, for instance, that you are in fact asking the question, where can I download free movies? And they’re catering to that need.

The problem with free movie downloads is that you never really know what you’re going to get. You can easily type in the movie you’d like to download into a search engine and get all sorts of results. However, you can’t be sure of the quality, or if the file you download is infected with a virus (very unfortunate, believe me, I’ve had to send in my computer for repair more than once due to this). What you need, as an answer to your particular question, where can I download free movies, is a reliable movie download site that provides a large movie database, fast download speed and excellent customer service.

This isn’t quite as easy as just typing in a phrase in the search engines. What you need is tested and researched sites that produce real results based on the performance of a movie download site. You need a resource that answers the question, where can I download free movies?

While many movie download sites offer a lot of the same things, there are those that stand above the rest. The problem with mainstream sites, like Netflix, Blockbuster and others, is that they just don’t compare when it comes to selection. You can find lots of movies, but the selection pales in comparison to movie download sites that provide millions of movies to download.

Also, one giant downfall to downloading movies online from sites like Netflix is the monthly fee. What was that question you asked: where can I download free movies? Free being the keyword. Now, I’m sure you’ve heard, nothing is free. However, you’ll find that some very good movie download sites offer just a one time fee with no hidden costs. This one time fee ensures excellent support, fast downloading software and the ability to burn your movies to a DVD or CD, which, of course, allows you to watch your downloaded movies on your TV.

If you look at it in the long run, you’re paying a one time fee that will cover the cost of you buying DVDs of all your favorite movies. Also, this fee is not much more than the cost of just one DVD. You’re essentially paying the price for one and a half DVDs for unlimited movie downloads.

30 Top Movie Sites for the Movie Buff in You

June 30, 2008 · 3 Comments

I’m not sure about you, but I not only like to watch movies, but I like to know about them. In some cases, I like to know everything about them. Years ago… many, many, many years ago, that was not as easy as it is today. I’m sure you know why. The Internet. Yes… the Internet.

You can find out anything you want about any movie you want here on the World Wide Web. In the last few years, I’ve built up quite a number of different sites and blogs that I visit to gain information on the movies I love (or hate, or even don’t really care about that much).

I thought I’d be a nice person and share that list with you. Here are 30 movie sites and blogs you can visit to learn more about movies.

Authority Sites

imdb

I call them “authority sites” because they’re so freakin’ huge and filled with info. Basically, they hold the most authority when it comes to giving you information about movies.

  • IMDB – The name says it all. An enormous database of almost every movie and TV show ever to hit the screen.
  • Rotten Tomatoes – This site is somewhat set up like IMDB, with profiles for each movie. It’s great for the latest news and reviews also.
  • Yahoo! Movies – With the same authority Yahoo! receives as a news portal, so applies this to it’s movie site.
  • MSN Movies – Another great resource for movies from MSN.
  • Moviefone – This is AOL’s version of a movie site. Lots of more great movie info.
  • Fandango (Movies.com) – You recognize the paper bag puppets they feature on their commercials to try and get you to buy tickets from them. Aside from that, they offer a great resource on the web for movie news and information. They also just acquired Movies.com, so you kinda get two for the price of one… although, you’re not really paying for anything anyways.
  • MovieWeb – I used to only visit the MovieWeb forums, however, if you venture away from the forums, you’ll find that their site is filled with awesome movie resources.
  • Hollywood.com – Yet another huge authority site where you can find lots of info on movies.

News Sites

Comming Soon

The next list of sites are more focused on movie news, which I love. I just love to know all about a movie that hasn’t even been filmed yet. Not real sure why. I just do. So should you.

  • Variety – This site is the web version of the magazine. This is what most bloggers and webmasters use as their source for news on their sites.
  • The Hollywood Reporter – Another magazine to web site also used for a source for news by bloggers and webmasters. Lots and lots of info from the pros.
  • ComingSoon.net – One of the first sites I check when it comes to movies news, ComingSoon.net is owned by CraveOnline, a huge conglomerate of entertainment sites.
  • IESB.net – Another enormous source for movie news.
  • CinemBlend – Well written articles about movie news. If you want personality and humor when reading about upcoming movies and movie reviews, visit this site.
  • Rope of Silicon – Another awesome, funny site for movie news and reviews, complete with forums, podcasts and more…
  • Empire – I recommend subscribing to the magazine version of Empire. Both online and off, it’s a great source for movie news.
  • Ain’t it Cool News – Awesome, comic book looking design with movie news delivered with a blend of wit and personality.
  • Dark Horizons – Another great, simple site for movie news.
  • allmovie – Comprehensive site covering all aspects of film.

Blogs

The Movie Blog

Anyone can a start a blog these days, but not many people can make good ones. Here are some exceptionally well done movie blogs.

  • The Movie Blog – Pretty self-explanatory name. I’ve followed it for years now and I’ve watched it grow into a passionate community that love movies and love to talk about them.
  • Cinematical – This blog is part of the Weblogs, Inc. Blog Network. Very nicely designed with lots and lots of updated movie news daily.
  • Film School Rejects – Another CraveOnline site, this is a professional blog about movies with creative features and an incredibly ingenious idea, custom movie drinking games.
  • FirstShowing.net – Another professionally designed movie blog with everything you need to know about movies.
  • slashfilm – Great source of movie news, slashfilm is such a good blog to visit to learn about your favorite movies and upcoming movie releases.
  • FilmJunk – For a great movie podcast, along with informative posts, visit FilmJunk’s blog.
  • The Documentary Blog – From the creators of FilmJunk comes a blog dedicated to documentaries. This is the authority for documentaries online.
  • In Contention – This blog is centered around covering news related to the Oscars. While it is somewhat seasonal, you’ll still get very informative posts and movie news throughout the year.
  • Row Three – Really cool blog with an awesome movie podcast.
  • Obsessed With Film – Very true to its name, this blog is another great resource for movies.

Review Sites

While most of the sites above have movie reviews on them, the next two are dedicated solely to giving you film reviews (one actually gives you reviews of all things dealing with entertainment). These sites are great for determining if you actually want to go see a movie, or, if you want to see how to professionally write a movie review yourself.

  • Film Critic – Huge database of movie reviews, if this site doesn’t have a review of a particular movie, it’s a rare occasion. They’ve been online since 1995 and they even wrote a how-to book on writing reviews… yeah… impressive.
  • MetaCritic.com – This is an all-encompassing review site. Anything that has to do with entertainment, including new movies and DVDs.

I’m certain that will get you started in your endeavor to know more about the movies you watch, however, I’m also certain there are many more sites on the web that can fill you in on movies. Before I ask you to suggest some, here are some more… bonus sites, if you will. And you will.

  • MetaPhilm – I randomly found this guy. If you want in depth analysis of movies, check this site out. Very enlightening.
  • Wikipedia’s Upcoming Films Category – I was freakin’ stoked when I found this. Basically, a huge list of movies coming out up to the next 5 to 10 years.

Well, there you have it. If you have any more sites that you know of, or that you regularly visit for movie info, please leave a comment with a link.

Disaster Movie – Another Attempt at Parody

June 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’ve suffered through many a pardoy since the first Scary Movie came out. Honestly, I think that was the begining downfall of parodies. When parodies were actually good (Airplane!, Naked Gun, Spaceballs) I didn’t mind that they were sometimes overly retarded.

And now, from the same guys who brought us the Scary Movies, Date Movie, Epic Movie and recently, Meet The Spartans, bring to us, a new parody, Disaster Movie:

I understand trying to capatilize on todays’ popular movies, but sometimes… it’s just not funny. There’s a good chance I might happen to watch this if it comes on TV randomly and I’m more bored than I’ve ever been… in my life.

What About M. Night Shyamalan? Is The Happening Going to be Good?

June 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have mixed feelings about M. Night Shyamalan. While I do like some of his movies, I’m not sure if I think he’s the genius some people think he is.

Upon seeing the trailer for The Happening, I was pretty excited. Almost as excited as I was when I saw the trailer for The Village. It was the whole, “wow, I have no idea what’s going on. I can’t wait to find out.” And while The Village wasn’t a huge let down, I was dissappointed.

Well, if you haven’t seen The Happening trailer, watch it below and let me know what you think…

Transporter 3 – French Trailer

June 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

If you like a purely action-filled film, then I’m sure you love the Transporter movies. With your favorite action star, Jason Stathem, Transporter is up to its third installment, and the trailer is out. This is an international trailer and it’s more of a teaser than a full trailer. It may be a worthless movie, or it may be a fun time watching Stathem kick everyone’s ass… again.
